COUNTY LEGISLATURE *ANTI-SMOKE BILL SENT TO PANEL.(Local)

Cigarette smokers are safe for now.

A number of proposals presented at Monday's meeting of the Albany County Legislature to prohibit smoking in public and private establishments were sent off to smoulder in committee.

Robert Prentiss, a Republican legislsator from Colonie, offered the legislature a local law outlawing cigarette and other smoke from all public buildings. Additional resolutions restricted smoking in publicly owned buildings and in the legislaturechambers.

Prentiss also asked for a "Smoke- Free Task Force" to developpolicies for smokeless work environments.
