Sindh Banks performance reviewed.

Karachi, June 16, 2011 (Pakistan Observer): The Board of Directors of Sindh Bank Limited met here today under the Chairmanship of Mr. A. Subhan Memon, Chief Secretary, Government of Sindh and reviewed the progress of the bank since its establishment in December 2010. The Board noted that by end May 2011, the bank had earned a profit of Rs. 540 million with a network of 5 branches .

The President, Mr. Muhammad Bilal Shaikh informed the Board that the bank had a target of opening 45 additional branches by the end of this year. Of them, 5 branches will become operational by the end of the current financial year.

The Board was informed that in order to further improve its operational efficiency the bank planned to obtain a Core Banking System from Autosoft Autobanker II through professional assistance of KPMG.

Realizing the need and importance of facilitating customers the bank was gradually moving on to technology based operations . In this connection, the Bank was already processing customers requests for payment of utility bills through SMS. Most IT related services including SWIFT were already in place while arrangements were being made to provide ATM services and Internet banking.
